Each of which are created by nature, and then crafted individually by hand, from the wood of our abundant New Zealand native tree fern, the Black Mamaku.
These tall magnificent tree ferns or “Mamaku” (Cyathea medullaris) are a distinctive feature of New Zealand's bush, and grow to a height of 20 meters with a graceful umbrella of fronds. Beneath the exceptionally hard outer bark, is the multi colored, paisley shaped grooves formed by each frond as it unfurls. Each tree’s pattern is unique to the individual, much like human finger prints.
